The Champlain Mill
Built in 1910 and powered by the Winooski River, the Champlain Mill has been the center of life in Winooski for over a century.
Mill workers came from all over the world and produced fine worsted wool used in coats and suits sold by the American Woolen Company until the Mill closed in 1954. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, The Champlain Mill offers the Burlington area a unique office, retail, and restaurant space.
The Champlain Mill is a proud member of the Winooski Falls neighborhood—an award winning, smart growth, new urbanist redevelopment recognized nationally for its innovative approach to community development. Awarded the national Livable Communities Award, this walkable neighborhood on the banks of the beautiful Winooski River includes over 100 acres of preserved open space, a riverwalk, and shops, eateries, and services for the young and the young at heart.
